What is the difference between a "SEO Mill" and just "SEO"?

When choosing a SEO company, it isn't a matter of life or death. Actually most SEO companies will work to better your rankings through the search engines. If they don't, they usually loose you as a customer, and that really isn't good for their business. But there are some out there that take it a little further than the run of the mill.

Most SEO companies focus on 3 main factors. Titles, Headers, and Link Building. And really, if you follow these three basic steps you will improve your listings. But there is more to a online company that just getting high rankings in the search engine.

A website becomes your Store Front, Sales Force, Show Room, Customer Service, etc. It essentially becomes an extension of you. Because there isn't anyone to say "Hello, and welcome to our store", the layout, design, content, all become a reflecting of you.

What does that have to do with SEO?

SEO is more than just driving mass amounts of traffic to your site. It is more than just getting higher rankings in the search engines. It is about converting those leads into sales, and effectively building processes that streamline your online company.

When selecting a company to do your SEO, find one that is committed not just to the success of your SEO campaign (driving mass amounts of traffic to your site), but one that is willing to work with you to build up your online presence. At times this means working with you personally to achieve your success, working with your IT department or 3rd party developer, or acting as a project manager to help you achieve success online.
